We are so excited to introduce our brand Wyrd Designs Cape Breton to you!
The word "WYRD" comes from an Anglo-Saxon term that loosely translates to fate or destiny, and that is what we want to convey to our clients: the feeling that an individual piece of art was made specifically for them, be it a simple drawing, or a whole decorative furniture piece. Even our bookkeeping and digital marketing services are centered around what works best for our individual customers. So let's hear a little from our owner, Lana Mulholland:
"Ever since I was young, I have considered myself an artist first and foremost, and I have been waiting for an opportunity to showcase and hone my work for years. Now that I have finally had the chance to start my own business, despite the challenges I have faced in the past, I can't wait to share it with all of you!"
"So what can I do for you? You may find yourself lost in the myriad of items and services I have listed on the home page, and I wouldn't blame you. I have many skills and interests, and want to do everything I can to help those who seek my services."

"Firstly, my art - I began drawing as a child, and was praised for my realism and eye for detail. Now, after a few hard years where I had not felt up to creating, I have found that spark of inspiration again, and want to use that to create beautiful pieces of art that means a great deal to those who want it. I am looking at doing portraits of special occasions and pets, as well as locations or people who mean something to you. I can use references you send to me to draw, paint, or carve them. I do not have a lot of experience carving things by hand but will love to get back into it. I can also offer carvings by a CNC router in the near future, meaning I create a 3D model of the subject, and then carve it on a machine and sand and finish the piece of wood to your liking. These 3D models can also be used to be printed on a 3D printer and I can paint them for you to your specified scale and colour scheme."
"Secondly, are my graphic design services. I enjoy creating brand identities, including logos, colour palettes, and typeface choices, and entire brand style guides. I have now done this for four different start-ups, including my own, and I really enjoy working with someone to bring their ideas to life. If you have a small business you want to start-up, you can count on me to be there by your side as you work your way through your ideas. I can also provide marketing services after the initial launch, as I have a certificate from Google in Digital Marketing and E-commerce."
"Next is my bookkeeping services. I have always been great at math (I received the highest grade in the province for my grade 12 Provincial Advanced Math Exam, which I took in grade 11) and have just recently received a certificate from Intuit Academy Bookkeeping, for using Quickbooks Online, as I wanted to ensure I run this business correctly. I already have one client that I am working for using the skills I have learned through that course, and would be happy to help anyone else in need of a bookkeeper, particularly those interested in teaming up with me for branding and marketing purposes as well."
"Finally, I am a cabinetmaker by trade, after having received my Cabinetmaking Certificate from NSCC in 2018, and I love making cabinets, furniture, and murals using the woodworking skills and knowledge of 3D modelling software I have acquired over the years. I cannot provide theses services quite yet, as I still need to do some renovations to be able to use my equipment and tools appropriately, but I will update everyone when these services are available."
Thank you so much for reading this introduction, and we can't wait to do business with you!
